Gratis ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Gratis mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our App.

By using Gratis, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

We collect the following information when you create an account or use the App:

• Phone number — used for account verification and identity confirmation
• Email address — used for account verification and communications
• Display name — shown publicly on your profile
• Profile photo — optional, shown publicly on your profile
• ZIP code — used to show listings near you
• Listing content — photos, titles, descriptions you post
• Messages — conversations between users about pickup arrangements
• Reviews — ratings and written reviews left by other users
• Device push token — used to send you notifications

We use the information we collect to:

• Verify your identity and keep the community safe
• Show listings near your location
• Enable messaging between givers and receivers
• Send push notifications about pickup requests and messages
• Display your public profile to other users
• Investigate reported listings and enforce our policies
• Improve the App and fix bugs

Gratis does not collect payment information of any kind. There are no fees, no transactions, and no financial data processed through the App. Everything on Gratis is free.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Other users — your display name, profile photo, ZIP code, listings, and reviews are visible to other users of the App
• Service providers — we use Supabase for database and authentication, Twilio for SMS verification, Resend for email delivery, and Expo for app delivery. These providers process data on our behalf
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Listings marked as completed or expired are removed from public view but may be retained in our database for safety and moderation purposes.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings

Gratis is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information please contact us at support@thegratis.app.

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. Your data is stored securely using Supabase's encrypted infrastructure. However no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
